June 2016 - Wellcome Collection Event
On Thursday 9th June, the British Friends of Reuth hosted a cocktail reception at the Wellcome Collection in Euston. We were privileged to have two inspirational speakers from Israel. Dr. Dov Albukrek, the Director General of Reuth Medical and Rehabilitation Centre, spoke about what makes the care at Reuth so unique. Aya Ben Ron, an award-winning International artist, provided insight and commentary, as well as an insightful Q&A on her acclaimed film “Shift”, which was filmed at Reuth Medical Centre over a two-year period.
Over 70 attendees helped the charity raised over £15,500, which will go towards the patients’ Quality of Life Therapies at the hospital.
Yehuda
Aaronson, Director of Overseas Development, Reuth said: “It was a superb event,
attended by people who were able to gain a deeper understand of the work that
Reuth provides. In Dr. Albukrek's talk he mentioned Ben Naim, the
young man who having been born with cerebral palsy was confined to a wheelchair
for the first 24 years of his life. Thanks to a unique technological innovation
at Reuth he has learned to walk using crutches, and is no longer dependent on
his wheelchair. This story truly highlights the "Spirit of Reuth”.
