Night of Magic and Laughter raises £25,000
As the British Friends of Reuth, we are delighted to announce that we hosted 350 people at the arts depot, Finchley, London, on Sunday 28th April 2013, for a “Night of Magic and Laughter” in aid of a new dialysis ward at the hospital. Featuring the acclaimed comedian Mark Maier, and award-winning magician Nick Einhorn, the audience was treated to an evening of high class entertainment.
We were also honoured to have both the Israeli ambassador to London, Daniel Taub and his wife, as well as the Mayor of Barnet, Brian Schama as special guests. We were privileged to have the Ambassador address the audience describing how, in its 75 years, Reuth has been delivering its special brand of caring medical and social care services to all branches of Israeli society.
They also had great pleasure in welcoming both the international chairperson of Reuth, Merav Mandelbaum, and also Zeev Jaffe, Reuth’s Finance Director, who both flew in especially to be at the event. The event also heard the personal story of Ody Shashoua, a volunteer at Reuth, whose father was at the hospital for 9 years following a stroke.
Reuth are developing a unique new facility not available anywhere else in Israel, combining a dialysis unit with ventilator support in a non-acute environment. The event raised over £25,000 which will be used to purchase the specialist beds needed for this ward.
Speaking at the event, Neil Ferber, our chairman, explained the importance of this project, as well as showing his appreciation for all the support received to make the event such a success. “This new ward will benefit not only the many patients who need this specialist support, but also the acute care hospitals who can release patients into Reuth’s care, and so free up acute beds to treat more patients. I am very grateful to all the hard work and support from our dedicated team and our many supporters to enable this event to be such a success”.
British Friends of Reuth would like to thank all our supporters for making this event such success and especially to our Media Partner the London Jewish News for the marketing and advertising support that they have provided to us, before, during and after the event.
